Relax in Comfort

Not even the winds blowing off Lake Superior this summer have been enough to keep visitors along the North Shore comfortably cool. The North Shore is experiencing one of its warmest summers in years and Lake Superior is far warmer than normal, and could be headed for record-breaking high temperatures later this summer. Temperatures in the top 30 to 50 feet of water usually peak at 59 degrees in mid-August, but they hit that mark last week already. The record of 68 degrees, reached in 1998, could well be matched or broken. Click here to read the full Star Tribune article.

Evidence of the warm water conditions was verified first hand by Robert, an owner at Surfside who took a spill in the big lake while on a guided kayak excursion last week! If you've been waiting for the right time to take a Lake Superior plunge, there might be no better time than now! We have nearly 800 feet of beautiful ledgerock shoreline at Surfside for you to explore and enjoy. And yes, some Surfside townhomes are pet friendly!

Usually the cool breeze off Lake Superior provides sufficient air conditioning during the summer months along the North Shore, but not this summer. Thankfully, Surfside features four-zone comfort control air conditioning units in each of its townhomes. Not only do Surfside's air conditioning units provide efficient and powerful cooling, but they do so at the lowest noise levels in the industry.

The air conditioning units are just one of many quality and thoughtful aspects that have been incorporated into the design of the vacation homes at Surfside. Only the finest materials were used in construction, such as James Hardie cement board siding, Andersen Windows and patio doors, Hunter Douglas window treatments, maintenance-free decking, visual-friendly deck railing systems, granite counter and vanity tops, stainless-steel appliances, custom slate tile floors, fireplaces, and showers, custom red birch cabinetry, exposed post and beam construction, and more.

So many people tell me that pictures don't do it justice; you have experience Surfside first-hand to truly appreciate this special place. Fractional ownership opportunities allow you to make this special place your own for a fraction of the price. There's no better way to create timeless memories with family and friends while building long-term equity than to own your very own piece of Surfside. Contact me to learn about the incredible sales incentives that are now available.

Hear the Music!

For a second consecutive year, Surfside played host to the Woodland Chamber Music Workshop June 22-27. Lead by Founder, Director, and accomplished Cellist, Josh Aerie, the Woodland Chamber Music Workshop is an opportunity for both pre-formed ensembles and individuals to come together for a weekend of small-ensemble playing, coaching, seminars, chamber orchestra, and fun. Emphasis is placed on improving ensemble skills, musically exploring a particular piece of chamber music, and developing the artistry of the individual musician participant. A big thanks to Josh and all of the participants for bringing such a wonderful event to Surfside last weekend! Lake Superior made for an ideal backdrop!

Speaking of events, the Bluefin Bay Family of Resorts presently has nearly 30 weddings and other group events, like the Woodland Chamber Music Workshop, on the books for 2010. These group events account for nearly 1,500 guests throughout the year. The group event market segment is one that is becoming more of a focus for the Bluefin Bay Family of Resorts, especially after being recognized as the "#1 Wedding Resort in Minnesota" by ResortsandLodges.com. We now have a staff of experienced group and event planners who do an excellent job catering to their clients' every need.

Not only do group events result in increased occupancy levels, but they also expose an entirely new clientele to the real North Shore….beyond Duluth! Once these guests get their first taste of the real North Shore, I'm confident they'll be back for more. Come and explore the shore this summer and stop by Surfside to check out the North Shore's latest and most luxurious resort community. Regular open houses are now being held Thursday - Monday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Of course, private appointments are also available. Don't miss out on our remarkable sales incentives! Contact me for more details…

Hope to see you soon!

Summer Activities in Full Swing!

Rumor has it that the Lake Trout have been biting recently in the waters directly in front of Surfside. Darren Peck, assistant front desk manager, owns and operates Tofte Charters. He's a fishing fanatic and has over 19 years experience on Lake Superior. Charter fishing is just one of the many recreational activities that are available to owners and guests at Surfside this summer.

Surfside also offers its owners and guests complimentary use of a variety of summer activities equipment and guided tours, including mountain and road bikes, kayaks and guided kayaking excursions, hiking trail guides and backpacks, and shuttle service to and from the numerous area trail heads. Also, nearby Lutsen Mountains offers unique summer-time experiences, such as the half-mile alpine slide that winds down Eagle Mountain and the scenic mountain tram to and from the top of Moose Mountain.

After a day out enjoying the great outdoors, treat your body to a relaxing spa treatment at the North Shore's only full-service destination spa, Waves of Superior, which is located on-site at Surfside. You can also sooth your body and mind in Surfside's world-class indoor pool, hot tub, and sauna, all while overlooking Lake Superior.

Although we're approaching peak summer time, there are still some great lodging specials being offered throughout the summer! Surfside's "Summer Adventure" special is available through September 16th. Come and explore the shore!
